The Ferry Hut

The Ferry hut can be found on the left bank of the River Aln in the village of Alnmouth, Northumberland. It is the smallest heritage centre in the North-East of England and probably in the country and maybe even in the whole world. There is room inside for just two people at a time but the walls are covered with memorabilia and pictures covering the history of this fascinating village by the North Sea.

A ferryman used to shelter in here while waiting to convey passengers to the other side of the river but sadly the service is no longer in used.
